'Boden Hurlers Complete Double

BALLYBODEN ST ENDAS 3-10 LUCAN SARSFIELDS 1-9

Ballyboden completed the double when they added the Dublin AHL Division 1 title to their SHC A crown in this top-flight league decider at Sancta Maria on Tuesday night.
Lucan led for most of the opening half but a quickfire goal and point from Paul Ryan just before the interval gave Boden a 1-8 to 0-7 half-time advantage, the goal coming direct from a free.
Three minutes into the second half David Sweeney struck for goal when in classic Sweeney style he cut lose from the chasing pack and finish with power and accuracy.
Lucan though were determined not to let the game slip their grasp with Kevin OReilly going close to goaling from deadball. A second OReilly free was brilliantly saved by Finn McGarry but Aidan Roche was on hand to sweep the rebound to the net.
However, ten minutes from time Boden sealed victory for sure when Conor McCormack drilled to the net.
SCORERS - Ballyboden St Endas: P Ryan 1-10 (1-8f), D Sweeney, C McCormack 1-0 each. Lucan Sarsfields: T Somers 0-5 (0-5f), A Roche 1-0, P ODriscoll, P Brennan, P Kelly, K OReilly (65) 0-1 each.

St Sylvester's Win JH Leinster Title

St Sylvester's 2-11  Edenderry  1-9

It was St Sylvester's who were deservedly crowned JH champions of Leinster thanks to two goals within a minute just before half-time and the phenomenally accurate free-taking of Martin Ormonde.

Edenderry looked the more likely winners for the majority of the first half until Sylvester's rapid brace. In the 27th minute an unfortunate own goal from Conleth Carey and an emphatic finish from Fergus Rooney just seconds later sent Syls on their way.

A further point courtesy of Ormonde gave the Dublin club a 2-5 to 1-4 advantage at the break. There would be no let-up in the second period either with Ormonde hardly letting a free go to waste.

Scorers -- St Sylvesters: M Ormonde 0-9 (7f), F Rooney, C Carey (OG) 1-0 each, C O'Connor, D Keogh 0-1 each. Edenderry: C Farrell 0-7 (4f), M Moore 1-0, J Carey, S Og Farrell 0-1 each.

St Sylvester's -- H Murray-Hession; P O'Leary, I McCafferty, D Rooney; A Morris, E O'Flaherty, D O'Flaherty; R Kennedy, D Casey; F Rooney, C McCafferty, D Keogh; K Falvey, M Ormonde, T Reddy. Subs: C O'Connor for K Falvey (h/t), P Duffy for F Rooney (36), D Hayes for C McCafferty (43), G Hannon for T Reddy (59), Walsh for Keogh (60)

Edenderry -- B McCabe; T Fay, C Carey, S Kelly; D Egan, E Kelly, D Hanlon; S Connell, M Keogh; G Hanlon, C Farrell, S Og Farrell; J Carey, M Moore, B Glennon. Subs: J Coffey for J Carey (45), E Bagnall for D Hanlon (53), J Geraghty for C Carey (57).

St Finbarr's Fail in Leinster Bid

Blacks and Whites (KK) 2-20   St Finbarr's 1-9

Naomh Fionnbarra Leinster JHC journey game to a halt in their semi-final on Sunday when losing in Skeoughvosteen to Kilkenny junior champions, Blacks and Whites by 2-20 to 1-9.

An early scoring blitz from Paul Murphy, Tom Moloney, Peter Cleere and Niall Kennedy put Blacks and Whites in a position of authority they never surrendered and despite a spirited fightback led by Ger Dodrill, the Barr’s found themselves numerically behind in the 19th minute when Stephen Costello was sent off.

Tommy Farrell hit the Kilkenny side’s first goal in the 23rd minute and the impressive Kennedy hit the last four points of the half as they worked a 1-11 to 0-2 lead.
Niall Paget grabbed Fionbarra’s goal early in the second half but a second from Farrell killed the game and completed a clean sweep of Leinster club titles for Kilkenny teams in 2009.
